Given that Survivor is a competitive reality series that has been on the air for twenty years, it should be no surprise that gameplay and editing priorities evolved throughout its history. There are no universally agreed upon markers for the show's development, though patterns have formed over time. On this blog, I will be discussing the following eras, which were decided by me:

Era 1: The Strategic Camping Game Show (Borneo to Thailand)

Era 2: The Age of Curiosity (Amazon to Palau)

Era 3: Idol Oblivion (Guatemala to Heroes vs. Villains)

Era 4: Shaky Ground (Nicaragua to One World)

Era 5: The Second Age of Curiosity (Philippines to Worlds Apart)

Era 6: The Meta Age (Cambodia to present) What particularly will I discuss? It can be boiled down to the following:

Outlook: The outlook that most players in that era had when competing.

Storytelling: Each era has different types of storytelling that define them.

Innovation: What new types of strategies were created/used in the era? I look forward to discussing "The Strategic Camping Game Show" with you next week!
